Tom is an associate in the dispute resolution department. Tom’s main focus is commercial disputes. He acts for a variety of PLCs, limited companies, private individuals and entrepreneurs. Tom’s practice covers company/ commercial disputes, shareholder disputes, professional negligence, insolvency matters, intellectual property disputes, sale of goods act disputes and employment disputes.
Tom also has experience of sports law, in particular in relation to football and horse riding. He is also very familiar with the leisure industry, energy and telecommunications sector.
Tom’s recent work includes:
- Defending a £20m breach of warranty and misrepresentation claim.
- Acting for a former employee of an AIM listed company whose contract had been wrongfully terminated – Daley v. ERT PLC and Anor [2009] EWCA Civ 612.
- Acting for the petitioner in a minority shareholder action worth £9m.
- Acting for a former director in the defence of directors disqualification proceedings.
- Defending a significant claim by a High Street Bank pursuant to the terms of a guarantee.
- Acting for a claimant in a complex and significant dispute arising out of a professional’s negligence.
Tom qualified in 2000. He practised initially at McCormicks in Leeds (now renamed Clarions) to practice sports law, where he acted on behalf of the FA Premier League, The Football League and Leeds United. He subsequently joined Halliwells where he continued his sporting practice and also gained experience in the leisure industry and energy sector. Tom joined Henmans in 2007.
