Tamsin specialises in professional indemnity claims and commercial disputes. Her commercial disputes practice inludes advising in relation to property disputes, and contentious trust and probate disputes.  She regularly provides training and seminars on enforcement/insolvency matters and she is also a member of Henmans Rural, which advises on agricultural, rural and equine matters. Her professional indemnity case highlights include:

  • Negotiating multiple settlements in relation to related lender and borrower claims arising out of the conversion of properties without planning permission. 
  • Acting for major insurer defending a significant number of mortgage fraud/professional negligence claims brought against the same insured firm.  
  • Successfully striking out a claim against a professional services firm at a trial of preliminary issue on limitation and in particular, the application of s14A Limitation Act, 1980.  
  • Defending a six figure, CFA funded claim against a firm of solicitors concerning a piece of failed litigation over a disputed investment agreement; global settlement at 10% of sum claimed.   

Recent examples of her commercial dispute practice include:

  • Advising on the lawfulness of a Tree Preservation Order made by a local authority. 
  • Advising beneficiary on their beneficial interest in property arising out of a declaration of trust disputed by a family member, settled on favourable terms at mediation. 
  • Obtaining possession order for owner of property occupied by squatters. 
  • Obtaining numerous bankruptcy orders at contested hearings. 
  • Acting for clients out of the jurisdiction wishing to investigate challenges to UK Wills. 
  • Acting for claimant suing previous employer for failure to provide insurance packages when working abroad. 
  • Advising major landowner/estate in relation to emergency injunctive relief following trespass on land by travellers. 

Tamsin trained at Henmans and qualified in 2009. She is a member of the Junior Lawyers' Division and undertakes regular pro bono work at the Citizens' Advice Bureau.  

Tamsin's advice on rural matters is supported by her keen interest in country pursuits, in particular as a horse owner and rider of several years. In addition she sits as a Parish Councillor.
