Oxford law firm Henmans LLP is proud to be a sponsor of the Ashmolean museum of Art and Archaeology through the most exciting period in its history.
Henmans LLP has a long established relationship with the Ashmolean. The firm first sponsored the museum’s renowned Treasures Exhibition from May 2006 to December 2008, with later sponsorships including the Pilot Audio Guide Scheme as well other corporate initiatives. During this time the Ashmolean, which is the oldest museum in Britain and possibly the world which first opened in 1683 has undergone an ambitious multi-million rebuild and was reopened by Her Majesty The Queen on 2 December 2009. The new, awe-inspiring extension, which doubles the amount of exhibition space, was designed by architect Rick Mather and received wide acclaim in international media and from the public.
Henmans is excited about its continuing involvement with arguably the most exciting museums in Britain. Through this new development, the Ashmolean has made its collections of art and archeology accessible to a much wider audience than ever before. Since reopening in November the museum has attracted 650,000 visitors which compares to a maximum of 400,000 visitors per annum to the old Museum over the period 2005-7.
Julia Iball, the firm's managing partner and member of the Ashmolean’s corporate advisory board commented,
“Henmans has a very strong connection with the city of Oxford and is particularly proud to be associated with the Ashmolean during its most exciting phase of development. Oxford is a city with an international profile and the opening of the museum has enhanced that profile enormously. It is a real privilege to be associated with such excellence, especially with an institution that reflects so many of our values.”
