Michelle is a solicitor in the employment team.
Michelle has experience dealing with all aspects of non-contentious employment law; including drafting contracts of employment, staff handbooks, director’s service agreements, compromise agreements, consultancy agreements, as well as dealing with contentious employment issues such as negotiating compromise agreements, aiding disputed redundancy exercises and advising on TUPE transactions.
In order to gain a complete understanding of the various employment law areas, Michelle acts for both companies and employees and she is very experienced in handling tribunal claims for both sides on a wide range of disputes. Examples include:
- recovering considerable damages for a council employee in a complex disability discrimination case;
- defending a vexatious race discrimination claim brought by a job applicant against a large city corporate;
- removing a non-compete injunction on behalf of the company’s directors who had set up their own business;
- defending numerous TUPE claims.
She qualified in 2005 and joined Henmans in 2011 following employment with two other large regional practices in the Thames Valley area.
Michelle is also a member of the Employment Lawyers Association. She has spoken regularly at seminars and networking events and has written articles for the local press - Oxford Times and B4 Magazine. She also had an article on maternity rights featured in 'Mother and Baby' magazine.
