Henmans obtains out of court settlement for client following inadequate knee assessment

20 April 2011

Carolyn Lowe of Henmans' clinical negligence team this week achieved an out of court settlement in the sum of £750,000 for Mr Ian Austin against an Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Saxon Clinic, Milton Keynes.

Mr Austin had undergone knee replacement surgery at the clinic in March 2006. It was admitted that the surgeon's assessment of the stability of the knee during the operation was inadequate.

Mr Austin subsequently had to undergo three revision operations and has been left with a significant injury to his knee which affects his mobility and he is now at risk of an above knee amputation.
