Henmans provides specialist high quality legal representation for dental patients who have dental negligence claims.
In recent years, dentists have substantially increased the range of services they offer. The majority of dentists work to a high standard and very many people have benefitted from the advances in clinical and cosmetic dental treatment.
Unfortunately sometimes things do go wrong. We understand that a poor cosmetic result or damage done to your teeth will cause considerable distress and embarrassment on top of any pain that you may experience as a result .
You need a specialist solicitor to advise whether you can claim for damages for pain and suffering, recover the costs you have paid for the treatment together with any other financial outlay such as costs of further treatment to put things right.
As with other areas of clinical negligence, dental negligence is a specialised and complex area of law.
Dimple Chawla has had a keen interest in dental negligence work since the beginning of her career. She has an excellent understanding of the terminology, the procedures and complexities of the issues involved, as well as the impact that inadequate dental treatment has on the individual concerned. At Henmans, we have the relevant medical and legal expertise to ensure that your case is thoroughly investigated and to get you the best result if you do have a claim.
What is dental negligence?
In order to succeed with a claim for dental negligence you must be able to show that the treatment you received was substandard and that this lapse in care is responsible for your injury and loss.
Claims have been brought in many different circumstances:
- Endodontics
- Orthodontics
- Periodontics
- Cosmetic & Other
- Crown & Bridge
- Implants
- Neglect
- Oral Surgery
- Restorative
- Consent
Limitation
It is important to remember that there is a 3-year time limit for bringing a claim; that time begins to run from the date of the treatment, or when you first became aware of the damage or injury or on your 18th birthday if you were under 18 when the injury occurred. You should ensure you take advice as soon as possible, as if you are outside these time limits you will not be able to bring a claim, except in very exceptional circumstances.
