Alan advises charity clients on charity law and related issues, and also those concerning the formation of new charities. He has particular experience in the law of Oxford University and its colleges, and the law applying to universities generally and the education sector.
Alan trained at Biddle & Co and qualified in 1971. He joined Morrell, Peel & Gamlen in 1974, becoming a partner in 1975, and joined Manches when it merged with Morrell, Peel & Gamlen in 1997. He was head of trusts and estate planning at Manches until 2006.
He is a member of the Charity Law Association and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
The Legal 500 directory and Chambers rank Alan among their leading individuals. Alan is also a trustee of several charities and has acted as an executor of a large number of estates and as a trustee of many private trusts.
