Andrew has extensive experience in the resolution of commercial and professional indemnity disputes.
Andrew leads the commercial disputes team within the dispute resolution department. The team’s clients range from well known global brands to local SMEs. They have a wide range of experience in assisting companies to resolve the large variety of disputes that can affect them. Andrew has particular expertise in acting in disputes arising between companies, directors and shareholders specifically unfair prejudice and breach of warranty claims.
Andrew’s professional indemnity practice focuses on construction professionals (including surveyors, architects and engineers), solicitors, accountants and financial advisers. He also advises insurers on insurance coverage disputes including dishonesty issues and successor practice issues.
Andrew is an experienced and active mediator and has particular interest in resolving disputes using alternatives to the traditional court process. He is the treasurer of Oxford Mediation.
Andrew's significant cases include:
- Roy Dean v Allin & Watts (Court of Appeal – Solicitor’s negligence claim regarding the duties owed by solicitors to a third party).
- Sean Daley v Environmental Recycling Technologies Plc (successfully defended the matter at the Court of Appeal – case involved allegations of fraud and breach of fiduciary duty against a former company director).
- Acting for a utility company in respect of various multi-million pound claims for losses caused by fire damage.
- Representing clients in respect of a £20m breach of warranty dispute and related Company Act claims arising out of the sale/purchase of a substantial business.
- Acting for an international management consultancy firm in a dispute with a former director over breach of copyright.
- Representing an Indian publisher in a complex cross border publishing dispute.
Andrew qualified in 1996 and was a partner at Coles Miller prior to joining Henmans in 2005. He became a partner at Henmans in 2007.
